Hi, Michael. What is it like working with Jean-Claude Van Damme? Are there any kickoxing-style fight scenes in "The SHU"? Over the past few years, Jean-Claude has become more involved in the making of his films since he started his own production company, Long Road Entertainment. Is he involved in the production/writing sense on "The SHU"? Thanks for your time.

Ringo Lam, the director, didn't want a lot of martial-arts kicks and fighting styles. He wanted it as tough and real as possible. So, go to the "S.H.U" credit page and you'll read the whole story from the filming. Plus I have some great pictures and shows you how tought it was. Additionally, if you read my Journal from August through the beginning of September, you'll get the inside story.

As for writing, I don't think he was involved in that. I may be wrong, but I didn't see or hear him talk about the writing of the film.

Working with J.C. was great. He's very dedicated and worked hard. He really wanted to make a good film. I've worked with a lot of actor who just "walk through" their parts. It's all about the money for them. I didn't see that with J.C. at all. To him, it was about the film and only the film. I liked that in an actor.

I'm glad to hear you had good experiance with Van Damme. I'm a little sad to here there won't be any of his kicks, but if the fighting is as intense as you say it will be, then that might make up for it all. Can't wait for the release. Do you by chance have an offical release date? Thanks.
